Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

Anti-bullying

At Como Public School every person has a right to feel safe and be respected. The aim of this policy is to provide a safe caring and inclusive environment free from bullying for all members of the school community. Our school expectations are to be safe, respectful learners.

Student welfare

Como Public School aims to provide a happy, safe and caring environment where children have the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability and become responsible and independent learners through quality programs.

Information and communications technology (ICT)

School computer technology and Internet services are used by students in a safe, responsible and constructive manner. All students and staff are given equitable access to technology resources in a secure manner to enhance teaching and learning programs. Students, staff and parents have a clear understanding of the school code of conduct for using ICT resources.
